How we met: Japheth and I met at the Irish embassy in Abuja June 2016. I hate going to the embassy but unfortunately I had to come to Nigeria to get a stamp that says Irish embassy Abuja. On that day I was with my uncle who was sorting out my passport while I was observing the scene when I noticed a guy in a well tailored northern caftan sitting besides me and was staring at me like he had a lots to say to me 🤣🤣. The man happened to be japheth, when he spoke to me I was too shy to talk at first. He told me he’s name was J.J charima and I laughed and said that means he might have a good “charisma” . My shyness could be seen , so Jeff noticed and started talking about something that interested me and we hit it off with a good conversation, I didn’t do so well in the conversation at first as I was beating around the bush. he gave me his number and said he is an Engineer and that he has to go back to work, then he left.

I looked at the card and thought Jezz I’ve been marked by a fraudulent person 🤣🤣🤣. Which turned out to be my head messing with me cause of what I heard about Abuja men 😀. After a few days , i decided to call the number and he asked me out for dinner, we had dinner and talked for long. I realized he was classy and too smart for me. I thought he was to good for me. After that day, he asked to date me and I shut him down cause I had someone I was seeing back in Ireland 🇮🇪. After the dinner I left Nigeria and we never spoke or texted ,until after a few weeks when I texted him and he ignored me , always replying that he was too busy to chat or respond. This kept on going for a while so I decided to cut him as I thought he wasn’t interested anymore. August 2017, after a few months I got a random text saying, “hello am in Ireland, can we meet”. I responded and decided to go meet up and that started a new friendship. Finally a year after getting to know him I decided to be his girlfriend!

 

The Proposal: Our relationship was a bit stormy, but we managed to weather it.As I got to know him, I made the decision that I would accept his proposal whenever he proposed as it was ‘him or nothing ‘ and this led to me finding out that he is planning to propose once I get to Nigeria to visit in July 2018.

On getting to Nigeria, he was been overly sweet which made me realize that he’s actually going to propose, so I called my friends and told them I would be getting engaged soon 🤣. Two days later I was proposed by Jeff in his house because I ruined his plan of proposing to me at Transcorp Hilton Abuja because I was too nervous to pretend I didn’t see it coming. Of course, the rest is history as we had our traditional marriage on June 13th 2019 and the white wedding a week after. Together we are looking forward to a beautiful happy ever after!!
